La Provençale Ste Victoire Bike Race

A relatively new race, this was only the 3rd edition of La Provençale on April 26. It starts in Aix-en-Provence, runs along the southern slope of the famous Mont Sainte Victoire before progressing north then back down south & west back to Aix.

Mont Sainte Victoire as seen from the race route.

Karsten did the 136km version of the race, and despite being faaaar back in the starting pen, he managed to hook up with a fast group from the beginning, kept with them and so had one of his fastest average speeds this race.

I (Sarah) did the 96 km version of the race. Or, at least that was the original plan. I too encountered a nice fast group during the race, but under slightly different circumstances. Let’s just say the second half of the race didn’t go quite as smoothly as the first half.

My full-blown race report is here, soon (I hope) to be joined soon by Karsten’s.
